Poker, CMA Fest & This Freakin’ Heat!

Ok firstly…. it is boiling right now!

I mean I’m from Dalby in rural Qld, Australia (where it gets very, very hot) but I must be softening in my old age… cause this Nashville summer is burning me up!

We played at the GAC Stage at CMA Fest here in Nashville on Sunday and I swear my guitar nearly melted. A huge thank you to everyone who came out and watched…that was a big effort indeed!

We also were entered in the Celebrity Poker Tournament which was a bit of an eye opener. Jay and I a vague understanding, certainly weren’t as professional as some of the other singers etc that were at the tables….

Jay was actually quite cute (if I can say that), she kept going ALL IN on like a pair of 2s… she got a little excited. I made it to the final table (got 6th out of about 40 or so)… and was beaten by Tuff Hederman – world bull riding legend! I daresay he might have had a little more experience than me….

We’re very excited to announce that our 1st single of our upcoming album is being release to radio in Australia next week!

Yep… OLD SCHOOL is the first single and we shot a video for it a few weeks back. It’ll be airing on CMC in Australia real soon – so keep an eye out for it. The video was a lot of fun to make!

New Site, CMA Fest 2010 & Stuff

Well there’s been lots going on lately… from shows in Chicago, New York and New Jersey with Phil Vassar, to recording an album here in Nashville, to drinking beer and eating hot wings at Hooters… Ok so maybe the Hooters hot wings aren’t all that newsworthy…or are they???

CMA Fest 2010 huh?

Lots of stuff to see and do.. we’re pretty excited about it… Last year was a really great experience and I’m sure this years will be even better.

We’re doing a bunch of stuff… real quick, here’s a shortlist…

Monday – Roughtstock.com’s Rebuilding Nashville Benefit Concert

(A bunch of great artists are playing this including Trent Tomlinson, Carters Chord, Katie Armiger, etc)

Tuesday – CMA’s Global Artist Showcase…. we’re actually hosting this event. Some cool artists from Canada, Norway, The UK and you guessed it Australia are performing.

Thursday – Andy Grigg’s Celebrity Poker Tournament… should be interesting…

Friday – We’re signing at the Roughstock.com booth in the convention center.

Sunday – We’re playing at The Music City Zone Stage.. should be great!

We’re way excited about the album that we’re working on.. We’ve had our regular band play on it and it’s being produced by legendary Aussie producer, Mark Moffatt. Funnily enough, Mark produced my first album back when I was a spring chicken “None Of The Above”…

Bout Bloody Time..

G’day there my friend!
It’s been about a month or so since we reached out but it feels like 6!
I swear yesterday felt like a week ago… does that make any sense?

Anyways, we’re going to hit you with a few bullet points with what we’ve been up to…(all business like)……..

1. We played RODEOHOUSTON – the largest rodeo in the world! It was huge! They had 2.1 million people attend it this year over 20 days. The Black Eyed Peas, Keith Urban, Mary J.Blige, Lady A, Toby Ketih… really big acts.
They have a slightly smaller stage (holds 2,500) where Gretchen Wilson, US and a bunch of Texas artists played. It was lots of fun!

2. We’ve started doing some hosting for a website called www.digitalrodeo.com
Special attention should be given to Jay’s interview with the farmer showing his Prize Calf & us eating deep fried frogs legs! mmmmm… NOT!

3. We released a new EP! Yup… “O’SHEA Live@The Blue Bar Version 2.0″

4. We’re off to Chicago next week to open up for Phil Vassar. We’ve played with him quite a few times now – he’s awesome! Great guy, great singer, great songs!
What more do you want? he he he

5. When you are walking through the terminal of the Nashville airport you occasionally hear George Strait, Lady Antebellum or some big star over the PA saying something like “Don’t leave bags unattended” or “Make sure you use the trash bins provided” etc…
Ever since I’ve been coming to Nashville I’ve heard this – and it was one of those, “Man someday that’ll be me” type deals… you know the ones… a little pep talk for myself…

So about 6 months ago, we recorded a whole bunch of them and I’m in and out of the airport all the time and I’ve never heard them… so I assumed they just thought that we weren’t famous enough or cause we were from Australia they didn’t want it or something.

BUT…

The other day Jay was walking to the terminal and she heard one!!!!!
I think I was saying “G’Day! Thanks for choosing Nashville International Airport” or something stupid… but it was definitely a WOW moment!
We’re gettin there….

Okey Dokey.. that’s about it for now!

PORTSMOUTH OHIO & SICK PUPPIES NASHVILLE

HEY THERE GANG!!!
Wow, what a great weekend doing the very first ORIGINAL “CAN YOU DUET” road show.
It was great to hear Ryan & Avalon, The Stella’s and JB rocket do their thang! It reminded me of the talent on this years show. Just so high. Everyone has a unique, different thing to offer that is worthy of being heard ANYWHERE in the world.
Massive thanks to Donnie Locke, Jack & Loriandra and crew for inviting us to come play, it was just awesome. Beautiful theatre and it’s always such a blessing when you get to play a cool theatre.
The people of Portsmouth were so kind to us, lining up for CD’s and to say G’Day. It was so great to meet everyone – especially Hanna & Aeisha who drove a million hours to get there…..
I hope we get to come play back there one day soon.

We always try to look for somewhere cool to eat/drink in a new town and we managed to find the Brewhouse in Portsmouth OH. So great. The best food and beer in town and they happened to have a halloween party going on! Crazy!
Friday night was so awesome too watching our good friends the SICK PUPPIES go beserk on stage in Nashville with Shine Down. Wow, what total superstars they are. I was so proud at how amazing their show was. What a top weekend.
